Deadline to submit selected works in the requested format. The works not arriving on time with the right format won't be included as part of the final program of UVM.
 

Guidelines for Submissions

 ALL PROPOSALS MUST BE SUBMITED THROUGH OUR CONFERENCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

  • Paper and Panel Proposal

Each participant can send a maximum of one (1) contribution for each category (communication or panel), which will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee by means of a peer review process.

At the Symposium, the authors of papers will have 20 minutes for presentation, and 10 minutes for discussion with those present.

  • The official language of the conference is English. All submissions must be written in this language.
  • Send an abstract in a Word file (.doc or .docx) saved only with the title of your contribution, and not including your name.
  • The contributions should be anonymous and cannot include the name of the author(s).
  • Abstract: up to 300 words
  • Text up to 4000 words (including abstract, footnotes and references).
  • Maximum 3 colour images 

Documents that do not comply with the rules will be excluded from the evaluation process.

Proposals for Papers/Panels should focus on at least one of the following categories:

a) Research on visual music.

b) Visual music: techniques and methods.

c) Aesthetics of visual music.

d) History of visual music and related practices (what have we learnt through the years?)

e) Visual music and education (what, how, why?) Curriculum proposals.

f) Visual music and interactivity. Real time vs fixed media.

g) New technologies for visual music.

h) Visual music: display formats. Full-dome projects.

i) Visual music and digital culture.

j) The future of visual music.

k) Connections and convergences between music and image.

l) Multimedia and society.

m) Methodologies and techniques in digital art.

n) Technology and innovation in arts.

  • Workshop Proposal

Proposals for Workshop will be considered only when related to visual music or digital art.

Applicants shall provide: summary (up to 200 words), goals, target audience, level, number of participants, workload and technical requirements.

  • Artistic Proposal

Authors are allowed to submit a maximum of two (2) artistic proposals, which must follow the following standards to be considered:

  • Visual Music works to be projected in screening room in stereophonic or Dolby 5.1
  • Duration: up to 10 minutes
  • Standard: 4:3 or 16:9
  • Resolution: 1280 X 720px or 1024 x 768px.
  • Link for unlisted youtube or vimeo video,  without expiration date.

Authors will need to fill the online form (when available) and send the link of their work according to the specified rules.
